Today the whole school came together at the Scots Lane site for a Remembrance Day Service. Father Tom and Father Andrew came to help us remember. Father Tom started by inviting the children to place their poppy wreaths by the statue of Our Lady in the Prayer Garden. Father Tom then read the famous poem called 'Flander Field.' Some children from Years 5 and 6 read some more famous poems and a couple they had written themselves. One child from each class in KS2 read a bidding prayer. We then listened to the Last Post which started our minutes silence. It was so quiet. Father Tom then read a prayer and went on to bless the poppies. To end our service we all sang Abide with Me. It was a very moving service, the children now have a much better understanding of why it is so important to remember this day. We think of all those who died in the World Wars but also those who are being killed every day in different countries around the world.
