This afternoon all the children met in the KS2 Prayer Garden for a Remembrance Day Service. Father Tom and Father Andrew came, Father Tom led the service by opening with a prayer and asking KS1 to lay their wreaths in front of Our Lady. All KS2 children made a poppy out of clay which were all placed around the Garden. Father Tom went on to read the famous poem 'Flanders Field' and then some Year 5 and 6 children read some more famous poems and some of their own. One child from every KS2 class read a bidding prayer. We then listened to the Last Post which led us into the 2 minute silence. You couldn't hear a thing, it was so quiet. Father Tom then read the reading and went on to bless all the poppies. We ended our service by singing Abide with Me. It was a very moving service, the children understand more fully the need to mark this very special occasion each year.
