Below is an overview of the topic areas we will be working on in Year 4 during the Summer term.

English

Whole class reading of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’. Writing activities will be based on the novel. These activities will include play scripts, newspaper articles, diary entries, letter writing.

 

Spelling: Prefixes, Investigating, letter strings, homophones, words with common roots, verbs with irregular past tenses, high frequency words

 

Grammar: Use of commas, adverbs, speech marks, apostrophes to mark contraction and possession, exclamation marks

 

Comprehension: Read and study a variety of texts.

Compare and order numbers including finding numbers halfway between two points.
