Dear Parents,
This term is another busy term for year 6. The children will continue to be taught in split classes until the SAT tests which begin on Monday 9th May. Following the SAT tests, we will be preparing for Confirmation and the end of year production, as well as completing transition units of work.
Below is an outline of the curriculum which we will follow up to the end of the Summer term.

Light - Identify sources of light & revise facts that light travels in straight lines & opaque objects form shadows. Understand that to see, light needs to enter the eye. Investigate light reflection & refraction, white light made of many colours & the speed of light.
Electricity- Sc4 1a Construct circuits, incorporating a battery & range of switches to make devices work. 1b Find out the effect of changing components in circuits, making bulbs brighter or dimmer. Breadth of study: 1d Carry out a range of scientific investigations. 2b Recognise there are hazards in physical processes, and assess risks and take action to reduce risks to themselves and others. |

Homework is to be handed in every Tuesday.
Weekly Spelling Test every Tuesday. Rehearse script for end of year play.
The children will be asked to revise a range of times tables, depending on their individual ability which will be set by their class teacher. In addition to this your child will have to complete some written homework (in a maths book) or interactive maths games on Mathletics – each week the homework set will alternate between written and interactive. If your child is unable to access the internet at home please contact your child’s class teacher so alternative homework can be set or provisions made in school for your child to access the Mathletics homework. Please see the timetable on the maths curriculum page stating which week written homework will be set.
