TERM Autumn

 

Dear Parents,

 

Below is an overview of the topic areas we will be working on in Year 6 during the Autumn term.

 

Any questions please feel free to contact your child’s class teacher using the parent link.

 

Thank you for your support.

English/Maths homework will be due in on different days depending on the group your child is in.

A weekly spelling test will take place every Tuesday morning.

All children are expected to read every night and an adult must sign their reading diary.

Describe how living things are classified into broad groups according to common observable characteristics and based on similarities and differences, including micro-organisms, plants and animals.

Give reasons for classifying plants and animals based on specific characteristics.

Identify and name the main parts of the human circulatory system, and describe the functions of the heart, blood vessels and blood.

Recognise the impact of diet, exercise, drugs and lifestyle on the way their bodies function.

Describe the ways in which nutrients and water are transported within animals, including humans.

Followers of Christ – Discuss the demands put upon the first disciples and how we can answer Gods call.

Advent – to develop understanding of the 2 parts of Advent. Look at parables and hymns linked to Advent and unpick their meanings.

Christmas – Explore the Story of the birth of Christ from different Gospels.

Confirmation – ongoing preparation throughout the year
