Below is an overview of the topic areas we will be working on in Year 4 during the Summer term.

Whole class reading of ‘The Burning Shadow'. Writing activities will be based on the novel. These activities will include stories, newspaper articles and persuasive texts.

Poetry: Study of different forms of poetry and the composition of our own poems.


Spelling: Suffixes, investigating letter strings, same letters with different sounds, words with common roots, compound words


Grammar: Revision of punctuation, contractions, conjunctions, antonyms, varying the way sentences are opened, adverbs, time connectives

Comprehension: Read and study a variety of texts.


Using timetables

Converting between units of time

Read scales

Consolidate work on place value

Compare and order numbers including finding numbers halfway between two points. 

Formal method for multiplication

We are Class 9!


Hello everyone! Keep an eye out for all the latest of our work and antics during this very busy half term! You have all worked so hard and there's not long to go before you make the move up to Year 5 (how did that sneak up so fast?), so let's make this half term a great one! 


Also, we have been starting to use QR codes during our computing lessons so keep an eye out here to see if you can spot one. Who knows where it could lead?

Class 9 thoroughly enjoyed a trip to the partnership centre studying electricity and how to create a working circuit. Follow up work from this was carried out in the class with Mrs Sexton.

This week Mrs Crowley and Miss Bowen have rewarded Lottie, Juan and Evan star of the week for accumulating the most stickers
