Daily update from Miss Sullivan

04.06.20

Good morning Class 13!

Thank you to the families who have sent in their two Reception and Yr 6 photos and their science work for the competition. Please send these through when you get chance if you haven’t done so already 😊.

We are quite a few weeks into the home-learning routine now, what is it that helps you to relax and switch off from school work? Mine would be speaking to my five beautiful nieces on FaceTime, one of which is only three months old and very cute. ❀️
Have a lovely day,

Miss Sullivan 🌈

03.06.20

Good morning Class 13!

Thank you for sending through your friendship choices for Cardinal Newman, for those who haven’t been able to yet please send them through by lunchtime today.

It is not too late to enter the CTK Science Virtual Fair. Mrs Jackson will choose the three winners on Monday. πŸ§ͺ

Please email myself or Mrs Scott two photographs: one of your first day at school and the other of a more recent photo of you at school/in your uniform. There are lots of photographs on our class page if you’re struggling to find a more recent photo. Please only send two and send them through by Friday 12th June. Thank you! 😊

Have a lovely day!

Miss Sullivan 🌈

02.06.20

Good morning! β˜€οΈ

Please send through up to three of your friendship choices for Cardinal Newman before lunchtime tomorrow. Anything emailed after this I cannot add I’m afraid. Make sure you remind a friend to do it 😊.

I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing you all soon.

Miss Sullivan 🌈

Good morning children,

In order to organise tutor groups for Cardinal Newman, we would like you to select up to three friends. We will forward this information on to Cardinal Newman and they will group you accordingly. The intention is that you will be placed with at least one of these friends next year in your tutor group.  Please could you email your choice of friends to your class teacher by 12pm on Wednesday 3rd June. Any information sent after this date cannot be added to the data.

01.06.20

Good morning Class 13!

Today is the first day of your last half term at CTK. Although it’s not how you imagined, sometimes you have to sit back and count your blessings. Be thankful you are safe, be thankful you have a loving family and be thankful that you have lovely friends ❀️.
As we begin to prepare for school reopening, I will not be as active on emails and the class page due to being busy in school.

I hope you’ve all been enjoying the beautiful weather! β˜€οΈ

I hope you all have a fantastic half term week, rest and do lots of fun activities. I won’t be contactable over the half term as I too will be resting and enjoying family time.

Wow what a beautiful day yesterday.  We had a lovely BBQ in our garden, hope you managed to enjoy the sunshine.

It is a Holy Day of obligation today as it is the Ascension of Our Lord.  We would have been attending Mass if we had been at school so it would be lovely if we could all meet virtually for Mass at 9.30 this morning.  Together again as a school family.

11.05.20 Happy birthday Mylee! πŸ₯³

11.05.20

To all our year 6’s,

As SAT’s week arrives, it is not quite the same,

The tests that were printed this year never came,

The displays all still up; walls full of Maths ‘rules’,

But Year 6 looks very different, at present, in schools.

For some of you, happiness, lots of relief,

For others a sigh of pure disbelief,

That you worked really hard in advance of this week,

Expected and Greater Depth marks you did seek.

Algebra, fractions, the times table drills,

Inference, retrieval, in-depth reading skills,

Past, present, progressive… and all the SPAG terms,

You’ve practised and mastered them over the years.

Fear not though, the SAT’s, yes, won’t happen this term,

But remember tests don’t measure everything you learn,

Primary subjects are varied; you’ve always tried your best,

Any many of those skills that you’ve gained can’t be defined by a test.

So here at Christ the King, you’ve made us so proud,

We sit here with pride and we shout this out loud…

“Year 6 you amaze us, you’ve come incredibly far…

And we don’t need a test to see how amazing you are!

We miss you and are proud of each and every one of you.

The Yr 6 team ❀️

04.05.20

Good morning Class 13! Thank you for all of your emails of work and the updates of what you have been up to. A special mention to Alfie for his delicious looking chocolate apples and of course Joe’s fantastic meerkat cartoon! It was fabulous, I really enjoyed the show!

I thought today’s main message should be a poem to let you know I’m thinking of you all and I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing you soon when it’s safe.

πŸŒˆπŸŒˆ Thoughts of a teacher... 🌈🌈

An empty school, a quiet hall.
Children safe at home, but missed by all.
I walked into the classroom- usually a busy and bubbly place, all the chairs on the tables- not one smiley face.
Are they ok? Will they take this in their stride? The news stories tell us it’s an unusual bumpy ride.
An email to check in and say a little hello- how are you doing and what do you know?
Children working at home and trying their best- baking and making with some time to rest.
The key worker children are in school each day- it’s a new routine, with both work and play.
School isn’t the same without you all here, but I’m thinking of you and pray you have no fear.
Your smiles and stories I truly miss and to be back soon safely is my only wish. πŸ’«
Please stay at home until it’s safe to start, you’re always with me - in my heart. πŸ’•

Good Morning Everybody,

Mrs Nicol here again. Wishing you a happy and healthy Friday.

Today try to use your imagination for an RE task: using anything such as twigs, paper or anything you can find that may be useful, create your own palm for Palm Sunday. Father Tom will be saying Palm Sunday mass at 9am - this is probably the most important event in the Catholic calendar so it would be great to see our Yr 6s leading by example.

Today’s shout outs πŸ‘πŸ»:

Shay - Your Oreo cheesecake looked very impressive. You’ve inspired Miss Sullivan to make her own, she will post a photo of it in the next week!

Aoibheen - Well done for completing a very informative and comprehensive analysis of the documentary you have watched!

Freddie - Well done for ticking off another growth mindset target πŸ‘πŸ» Your book about climate change looks great!

Senan - You’ve achieved some fantastic scores this week in your papers- well done! Your poster on the documentary focus task was a very interesting read.

Dan & Emily (One Life Music) have created a weekly worship, copy and paste the link to take part.

Take care everyone
