Nursery Afternoon

21st July 2021

Dear parents,

Mrs. Walton and I would like to thank you all for the extremely generous gifts we received and the kind and thoughtful messages written in our cards.

We have thoroughly enjoyed teaching your child this year and watching them grow and develop. Although we were both very sad to say goodbye to them this week we know that they are all ready for the next stage in their learning in Reception.

We wish you all a restful and enjoyable summer holiday with lots of sunshine.

During the children's last week in Nursery they had lots of fun in the sunshine, enjoyed a teddy bear's picnic and enjoyed an ice-cream treat.

Please see some photos of their final week in Nursery below.

Happy holidays

Parent Weekly Update

Sunday 11th July

Dear Parents,

The children have enjoyed activities this week based around Summer holidays - we've learned lots about shells, and enjoyed playing with sand, sea creatures, buckets and spades. The children have also really enjoyed making Icecreams for Mrs. Walton and I to eat from their Icecream parlour!

Thank you for sending your child in on Friday in their England top or wearing red and white - it was so lovely to see them supporting their country ready for Sunday's game. I was also able to share a PowerPoint about football to explain why Sunday is such a huge deal to English football supporters and how history could be in the making tonight. We will be carrying on with our summer theme next week and until the end of term.

Please have a look in the Summer 2 learning  folder for some photos of the activities your child has been doing in our Nursery this week.

Here are our wonderful afternoon Nursery Children

STARTING IN NURSERY SEPTEMBER 2020

Welcome parents and carers,smiley

Your child has made a wonderful start to Christ the King School and has been settling in really well to life in our nursery.

Please see all of the wonderful settling in photos below of the activities your child has been exploring.

Throughout this Autumn term, we will be supporting your child to settle into their new nursery learning environment.

As part of this, we will help them to:

  • Build relationships with their key worker
  • Find their way around the Nursery, both indoors and outdoors
  • Make some friends to play alongside
  • Join in with story and key group times
  • Understand the importance of washing and sanitising their hands throughout the day
  • Develop their independence e.g. putting on and taking off their cardigan, jumper and coat

In Nursery the curriculum follows the children’s ideas and interests.  In the Autumn Term we will also focus upon the themes of ‘Ourselves, Our Family and Celebrations’.  We will be learning about different celebrations such as birthdays, Halloween, Bonfire night, Diwali and Christmas.  During the term, we will also be exploring two seasons – Autumn and Winter and how we can see the changes in the seasons.

How can you support us at home

The EYFS curriculum is used in schools to assess children’s progress.  The following home activities would help to meet some of those Early Learning Goals:

  • Remove their coat, cardigan or jumper, gloves, hat etc, and hang them up
  • Fasten own shoes (Velcro)
  • Use the toilet properly, flush after use, wash and dry their hands
  • Tidy/clear away toys
  • How to use a tissue properly
  • Dress and undress
  • Begin to recognise their own name – particularly initial letter (label all school clothes and show them where the labels are)
  • Talk about surroundings – what is happening around them in Autumn/Winter

Thank you for all your support
